We converted this high-ceilinged photo studio into a generous, inviting gallery environment filled with great natural light. Simple, elegant proportions and details create a flattering environment for large and small paintings, drawings and sculpture.
New skylights set up high in the existing structure wash the spaces with diffuse north light. The original heavy timber wood trusses and patinated hardwood floors add texture, warmth and specificity to both the exhibition and work spaces.
The work of a gallery takes place behind the scenes so we designed the offices, viewing room, library, storage and work areas to all benefit from the same qualities of generous space, precise detailing and abundant natural light.
